Waddup Guys and Gals!
Did anyone else find out a bit late that it was International Chocolate Day yesterday? Well... apparently it was. Luckily my Twitter feed kindly informed me just before I completely missed out on the sweet celebrations... and let's face it, with my sweet tooth, passing up an opportunity to indulge in some chocolatey goodness would be blasphemy!
I wasn't long Googling before I found this yummy and super simple recipe from Donal Skehan, that makes the most delish chocolate brownies. Prepare to get drooling!
Here's what you'll need!
225g good-quality dark chocolate
300g caster sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
100g plain flour
1tsp baking powder
Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl and set over a sauce pan of barely simmering water. Make sure to stir constantly until melted and smooth! You'll just wanna pour all of this in your mouth at this stage, but control yourself! Haha.
Whisk the sugar and eggs together for 2-3 mins with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy.
Slowly add the melted chocolate and butter and then add the vanilla extract. Continue to whisk until thickened!
Last but not least, sift in the flour and baking powder and fold in gently!
Turn the mixture into the prepared tin and bake in the middle shelf of the oven for 25 minutes until the top is firm and the cake has come away slightly from the sides of the tin!
Yep, I know! Looks like heaven!!
And once you wait through those unbearable 25 minutes... you'll get these babies!!
In Donal's recipe, there's also an option to layer on some rich chocolate frosting (which is just as easy to make) but I thought the brownies alone were doing enough damage to my diet.. Haha.
But if you're making these for your friends, you make sure to layer on that frosting! :P
Pop on over to Donal Skehan's blog to get all the deets on the brownies, the frosting and for a really helpful video that will show you just how easy they are to make!
... anyhoos, I'm away to eat my body weight in brownies!
