Met Gala 2014 | Who Killed It On The Red Carpet

This years Met Gala was all about formal fashion with the theme "Charles James: Beyond Fashion". Throughout this years awards season I was less than impressed with the looks that strutted down the red carpet, but trust the Met Gala to come up with gold!
Whilst some stars stuck rigidly to the theme of the night, others went waaaayyy off course. What killed me most were the looks that were FABOUSHH, but were more suited to a movie premiere than the Met Gala! Nevertheless I'm over the moon that for once I struggled to pick a favourite for the night!

Here are a few looks that I thought KILLED IT on the red carpet!

Suki Waterhouse | Burberry

I lahhvee this frothy pink, tiered, strapless creation. The red lip may be a little too harsh for some, but I think it adds to the romance of the look! STUNNING!

Beyonce | Givenchy Couture

Queen B's lookin' all kinds of fierce in this black beaded number from Givenchy Couture. I loved the unique touch that the veil gave to the overall look. She set herself apart from the crowd whilst managing to adhere to the theme of the night! Werk!

Blake Lively | Gucci Premiere

One of the two Gossip Girls on my favourites list from the night! Blake looks like she was straight up carved from the hands of the God's in this silk chiffon blush gown embroidered with rose gold detail. From the silhouette to the chiffon scarves cascading from her shoulders into a trail, she hit the 'Old Hollywood Glamour' nail on the head. She didn't let me down!

Kendall Jenner | Topshop

Firstly, let's just ignore the hair... Moving on, Kendall chose this fitted mermaid style gown from Topshop to showcase her fab body for her Met Gala debut! No doubt jaws were dropping and heads were turning errywhere! Love this understated, glamorous look!

Victoria Beckham | Victoria Beckham

Victoria wore a self designed, strapless, white dress. While you'd think this would be the time for her to experiment with a a pant suit or a ball skirt, there's still no denying that this is an amazing gown. She looks flawless!

Leighton Meester | Emilio Pucci

This may be a slightly controversial pick and I've a feeling that not everyone's gonna love this look as much as I do! Leighton pulled off this boho inspired silhouette perfectly! Although it's got a deep cut neckline and a thigh high slit, she totally managed to avoid going over the line to trashy. I'm also a huge lover of long sleeves on the red carpet, so she's totally won me over!

Sarah Jessica Parker | Oscar de la Renta

Oh hey, it's Audrey Hepburn reincarnated! SJP was one of the first to grace the red carpet in this dramatic Oscar de la Renta ballgown with elegant white gloves. She's always one I keep my eye out for every year as she really sticks to the theme of the evening and this year she didn't disappoint! There's something very Carrie Bradshaw-esqe about this look. Feeling a bit nostalgic! She looks amazing.

Rihanna | Stella McCartney

Rihanna stunned in this bright white top and skirt combo from Stella McCartney. Long sleeved again - cough cough, you may see a pattern emerging here. I think she might be one of the only people that could pull off such a daring look at this kind of event, but I love it!

And best dressed couple goes to these stunners....

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds

I'm a complete sucker for Old Hollywood Glamour and these two were the epitome of the era last night! It's also so cute to see this super private couple together on the red carpet for once!

I struggled to choose a favourite as I really loved a lot of the looks on the night - but if I was forced to decide, it would definitely be a throw up between Suki Waterhouse and Blake Lively.

It's so refreshing to see fashion come out in force for one night! If only it happened more often! Make's me wanna throw on a gown and go to a ball... any offers?

What was your favourite look of the night?

XO, G.
